Ten Reasons to Elect E.Z. Million Mayor
  1. E.Z. has lived in Norman since 1957. E.Z., 66, is retired on Social Secutiry Disability; uses a wheelchair & can represent the interests of those on fixed income.

  2. E.Z. knows Norman schools. his sons went through Moore, Whittier, Wesr and Norman High, graduating in 1980 (Scott) and 1981 (Ted).

  3. E.Z. can best represent the OKC commuter having worked at Tinker AFB, the FAA Center, Oklahoma City University, OSU Tech, IBM, and other location in OKC. (The two other candidates have not been commuters.)

  4. E.Z. will be a full-time mayor and have Open Office Hours from 1-4 PM on Monday and Thursday.

  5. E.Z. will also perform duties of the Director of the Norman Convention & Visitors Bureau. He will also bring the entire operations in-house (with the help of a part-time professional and two interns), allowing for over $300,000/year to be reallocated to support the new Arts District.

  6. E.Z. promises to serve only one three-year term (July 2007-June 2010)

  7. E.Z. will personally promote "Sidewalks-to-Schools", an important Public Safety project, along with "Curb Cuts" on existing sidewalks for the benifit of bicyclists, wheelchair users, and pedestrians.

  8. EZ. will bring the OU-Texas Football Game to Norman on October 11, 2008.

  9. E.Z. will force OU President David Boren, the "Great Bully of Norman", into retirement before Christmas 2007. Boren's tuition increases have caused a 20% drop in freshmen and a 15% drop in sophmore enrollment since 2002.

  10. E.Z. changed his voter registration to INDEPENDENT in late 2001. He is truly independent of political parties...and the Norman Chamber of Commerce...and OU's David Boren.

Sidewalks-to-Schools are a Top Priority:
  1. Public Safety for schoolchildren
  2. Voter Accessibility to the precinct polling place
  3. Actual needs are $3 million for sidewalks along one side of street.
  4. Are you willing to wait 60 years for sidewalks:
Because the current budget of $50,000/yr for sidewalks would take too long to fulfill the needs around schools.
  5. Just Do It! :
EZ's platform is to spend $1 million/yr for three years to fulfill Norman's requirements for sidewalks.

Repeal the North Base TIF:
  1. This is a $54 million boondoggle for the benefit of the OU Foundation.
  2. The OU Foundation recently paid nearly $2 million/acre (that is, $4.5 million for 2.3 acres) for property at the SE corner of Lindsey and Jenkins (O'Connells)

Cancel the $20 million Robinson St. Railroad Underpass Project:
  1. Too Expensive: Requires $10 million federal and $10 million local funds
  2. Events have overtaken the previously perceived need. :
The original rationale given to voters was to provide better access from the westside to the Norman Regional Hospital. The current reality is that medical facilities are being built at 36th Ave. NW and Tecumseh Rd.
  3. Would result in 30 houses being destroyed through eminent domain.

Cancel participation in the Norman Economic Development Coalition:
  1. The NEDC is costing Norman taxpayers $100,000/yr. This money could be better spent on "Sidewalk-to-Schools."

Reduce appropriations to the Norman Convention & Visitors Bureau or bring Tourism activities in-house to the City of Norman(X):
  1. Reduce NC&VB allocations by $375,000/yr would still leave it with $100,000/yr.
  2. The NC&VB has spent over $3,000,000 since 1996.
  3. By bringing Tourism activities in-house to the City of Norman, could re-allocate $300,000+ each year to the Arts and Humanities Council to prote the new "Arts District". That is about $1 million over three years.

Play more football games in the state-owned stadium at OU:
EZ Million arranged for the Kansas City Chiefs to play
an NFL preseason game in Norman on August 8th, 1998.
    Future possibilities include:
  1. Aug. 2007 - NFL Preseason game
  2. Dec. 2007 - Heartland of America Bowl
  3. Oct. 2008 OU-Texas (Texas at Oklahoma)
